What issues do you typically help patients with at your practice?

The most common ailments we help patients with include low back pain, neck pain, headaches, hip pain, sciatica, upper back pain, and postural corrections.

For our pregnant patients, we help address sciatica, symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD), round ligament pain, headaches, hip pain, and optimal fetal positioning.

We also care for pediatric patients and can help with difficulty latching/feeding, tethered oral tissue, torticollis, constipation, colic, gassiness, fussiness, sleep, and achieving optimal milestones.

How does your practice ensure the safety of treatments?

Before providing any treatment to our patients, we go through a full health history consultation, a comprehensive spinal examination, and X-rays (if warranted) to ensure our treatment recommendations are safe and appropriate for the patient.

We are all highly trained in our unique specialties, with hundreds of hours of continuing education and additional certifications concerning those specialties. Chiropractic should NEVER look or feel dangerous or painful.

Could you walk me through what a session at your practice looks like?

The first visit looks like the previous answer. Once the patient is established in our office and we have completed our thorough examination process, each visit typically involves a moment for the patient to update the doctor about their progress or current complaints, and then treatment, which can consist of chiropractic adjustments, spinal decompression, muscle release, or Class IV laser therapy.

For pregnant patients, the doctors do a thorough assessment and develop a plan based on the patient’s immediate and long-term goals (as pregnancy has an “expiration date”), and throughout that plan, the doctors offer some childbirth education, exercises, and partner work.

How does your practice determine the number of sessions a patient might need?

Based on the information gathered at the first visit, our doctors design a customized care plan for each patient. Factors we consider include the nature of the injury, the patient’s current state, and how they responded to the initial treatment. We also consider the patient’s goals (or the parent of the patient).

Does your practice address concerns like neck pain?

Yes, neck pain is one of the most common ailments we address successfully.

How does your practice approach back pain treatment?

After a thorough examination, we can identify where the dysfunction occurs and how it leads to unwanted pain and symptoms. Once we know where the pain is coming from, we use a specialized approach to restore proper function to that area.

We are always looking for the source or root cause of the pain versus slapping a Band-Aid over the problem.

Why do patients sometimes hear cracking noises during adjustments at your practice?

Sometimes chiropractic adjustments result in a “cavitation” or cracking sound. This results from tiny nitrogen gas bubbles popping when the joint moves subtly with an adjustment. Please note that this sound does not occur all the time. Again, the most important part is that a very subtle motion is being put into a restricted joint where appropriate.

What qualifications and expertise does your practice have to assist patients?

All three of our doctors are graduates of accredited chiropractic colleges and maintain current licensure in the state of Connecticut. Dr. Victoria and Dr. Lindsay are both members of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and certified in the Webster Technique, which is a specialized technique designed to restore proper function to the pregnant pelvis, resulting in less pain and an optimal birth.

Chiropractors must take and pass FIVE rounds of National Board Exams, and annual continuing education is also required. We also have had the pleasure and honor of collectively treating thousands of patients of all shapes, sizes, ages, and backgrounds over the years of being in practice in various locations.

What sets chiropractic care at your practice apart and makes it a good choice for patients?

At Back to Balance Chiropractic & Family Wellness, our patients are treated like family. We strive to give our patients the best care possible by finding the root cause of the problem and eliminating it. With Dr. Victoria and Dr. Lindsay being perinatal and pediatric chiropractors, many of our patients enter our practice in their mother’s womb and then join the practice after birth. By starting life with a balanced nervous system, babies have the best chance of growing into healthy, thriving adults.

We are a small, family-owned business that practices what we preach. Our whole family is under care at our office. We also make sure to support our fellow local small businesses at every chance we get!
