Chiropractic Care

The focus of our chiropractors is on the natural well-being and optimal health of our patients. Our guiding principle of care is that structure affects function. By working with the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, we can positively impact their effect on your health.

For the body to work at 100%, it must be moving well in proper alignment-90% of the stimulation your brain receives is from the movement of your spine. If your body doesn’t function the way it should, your spine could be restricted.

The central nervous system controls your body’s function. Any restriction in the spine can create a breakdown in the communication channel between your body and your brain. This may cause pain or discomfort among other things.

Stress is a major factor in the creation of spinal imbalances. The goal of chiropractic care is to restore function by removing the stressors and clearing all restrictions.

Our patients have seen improvement with focused chiropractic in relation to:

  • Back pain
  • Disc herniation
  • Knee pain
  • Neck Pain

  • Radiculopathy
  • TMJ dysfunction
  • Headaches
  • Thoracic outlet syndrome and others

We use several techniques at Back to Balance Chiropractic & Family Wellness, depending on each patient’s needs. Spinal manipulation techniques are the most common chiropractic methods to treat the spine. These include Diversified, Logan Basic, Thompson Drop and others. One or more techniques may be used to provide the best results for you.

Our chiropractors will also utilize various instruments to assist with adjustments on patients for whom manual techniques may not be appropriate. Active Release Technique (ART) works on the soft tissue areas of the body. A neurologically based muscle release technique, it has produced results for older patients with muscle imbalances. ART can also help athletes, chronic pain sufferers and those who have not found relief through conventional therapies.

Whatever technique is used, our chiropractors will treat the source of your problem and help give you the relief you have been seeking.

Once I go to the chiropractor will I always have to go?

It’s your choice as to how often you want to come in for care but consider this: you likely go to the gym on a regular basis to stay fit, right? Likewise, going to see the chiropractor to get adjusted can help you maintain a healthy spine and overall optimal health.
While you don’t need to come in three times a week for the rest of your life coming in for wellness care on a regular basis is highly valuable. Some of our patients who are under regular care begin to notice how well they function and feel and often will choose to incorporate that as part of their self-care regimen moving forward.
Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?

A chiropractic adjustment should never be painful. If you do have discomfort, however, there may be tender areas in your spine but an adjustment should help. Our chiropractors are gentle adjusters who will provide comfortable adjustments. Just as you might feel a little sore after a good workout at the gym, or a massage, you likewise might feel mildly sore after getting adjusted but it’s never painful.
What causes that popping sound during an adjustment?

Tiny nitrogen gas bubbles build up in the joint capsules and when they move sometimes it pops. Nothing is breaking or cracking in your body! Remember, too, that sometimes you may hear a noise and other times you won’t. You don’t need to hear a noise to get an effective adjustment.
Can chiropractic cure everything?

No, chiropractic can’t cure anything. Chiropractic care removes interference in the nervous system, which allows the body to function at its peak.
Do I need a referral from my physician to see you?

No, we are portal of entry providers.
Will you work with medical doctors?

Yes, we would be happy to co-manage a patient’s particular case-conservatively and holistically-with other physicians.
Will I get adjusted on my first visit?

It depends. We first start with an examination and consultation to determine if you’re a candidate for our care and then take the appropriate steps moving forward.
Will you suggest exercises or other things I can do?

Yes! We always will look for ways to further improve your progress and experience throughout your care plans. Each patient will get tailor-made exercises.
Can someone who has had back surgery see a chiropractor?

Yes. We may change our approach slightly but a person who has had back surgery can benefit from chiropractic care.
